TRANSVAAL WOLMARAN 1902 SG9 Cover Wolmaransstad Leask Registered to Scotland bearing SG 9

1902 (MY 29) registered cover (with 'LEASK' imprint on flap) from Dr Leask (interned at Klerksdorp) to his daughter Josephine at school in Edinburgh, Scotland, franked by Great Britain QV ¬Ωd vermilion x2 and 1d lilac x2 (paying the actual postage of 1d + 2d registration) in combination with 1900 (24 June) 'Wolmaransstad' 1d red 'Penny Post' commemorative, type L4 opt in blue, and Tramsvaal 1896-97 ¬Ωd x2 and 1d, tied by eight strikes of 'ARMY POST OFFICE/KLERKSDORP' cds dated MY 29 02. The cover with blue registration marks on face, and Klerksdorp, London (21 JU) and Portobello (22 JU) transit markings on face. A colourful and exotic usage of great historical interest, from a series of six covers sent at weekly intervals between 24 Apr and 29 May 1902, as the Boer War came to an end. Splendid and very rare.
