South Australia SG 43 1860-69 2s black embossed die proof

1860-69 Perkins Bacon 2s black, posthumous die proof with embossed impression on thick wove (155 x 111mm) with m/s endorsement 'hand made paper' at foot. Believed to be a secondary or rejected die, and likely prepared in connexion with a trade show or philatelic exhibition in the early 20th century. Minor traces of toning but a highly interesting and impressive item with no other examples known to us. - P267001629
