1853 (May) 'Laureate' 8d orange on medium bluish paper, an enormous upper left corner horizontal pair (pos. 1-2) with part sheet margins and traces of four adjoining stamps on the other sides, lightly used with strikes of (Sydney) barred obliterator and fine colour. Right stamp with small corner crease and marginal tone speck, not affecting appearance. An exceptional multiple, undoubtedly one of the finest pairs extant.
