1864 (JA 7) lettersheet from Kandy to London, endorsed 'Via Marseilles' and correctly franked by 1857-59 10d dull vermilion, imperforate with three good to large margins, tied by grid with red 'LONDON-E.C.' arrival cds (FE 2) alongside. The reverse with red 'KANDY / PAID' despatch cds and faint Kandy Steamer cds. A fine and very scarce single franking. Ex Cornwall-Brooks (Harmers 20 Mar 1979, lot 86) and one of only fifteen genuine usages recorded by Kimmel and Pearson (2020). - P267000353
