Zululand SG 5, 10 1893 cover to Norway with 1888-93 3d and 1s

1893 (13 OC) cover (a little reduced at right) from Eshowe to the 'University Zool(ogical) Museum, Kristiania, Norway', franked at 1s3d (= sextuple 2½d rate) by 1888-93 3d purple/yellow and 1s dull green, type 1 opts on GB, tied by individual light strikes of (scarce) single-ring 'ESHOWE / ZULULAND' cds. Backstamped at Durban (OC 14), London (NO 13) and Kristiania (16.11), with three examples (two partial, one complete) of perforated 'V. (Crown) R. / FOUND OPEN AND / OFFICIALLY SEALED' label applied in London. Inevitable slight faults (the 3d value affected by partial removal of two labels, but the 1s value fine), still an attractive and most unusual cover (addressed in violet ink), and a rare commercial franking, especially with the 1s value and to Norway. - P267000758
