SIERRA LEONE 1897 SG66 Mint

1897 2Ωd on 1s dull lilac, type 11 surcharge (with "N" normal), unused. Rather washed colour as often (supposedly as a result of a proportion of the stock having been immersed in sea-water), and minor bends, otherwise sound and of good appearance. A collectable example of this very scarce type, which occurred only three times (plus once with "N" italic) in the 10x3 setting. Just 223 existed. (cat ¨®£600 as fine). - P212021666
