Great Britain 1901-03 group of nine hand drawn covers from Rev Russell 'Alice in Wonderland' correspondence
Illustrated Envelopes. 1901-03 group of nine hand illustrated covers to Penarth, all originating from the Rev. A.J.H. Russell 'Alice in Wonderland' correspondence, franked by 1881 1d lilac (die II), 1902-10 ½d dull blue-green x2 or 1d scarlet, tied by various Stroud cancels, and depicting scenes and characters from 'Alice in Wonderland' including Mad Hatter (2), Tweedledum & Tweedledee, Jabberwock, King & Queen of Hearts, and the Duchess nursing the baby. Odd minor blemishes but an outstanding opportunity to acquire such a range from this famous correspondence. [N.B. Although the envelopes are unsigned, the artist is believed to be the work of Archibald Miles Holme Russell (1888-1945) and show remarkable quality for a teenage artist.] - P267000819
