1873 1s Green Pl.8. Very fine example lettered BA neatly tied to a clean cover to Madrid by a London city “89“ duplex for AU.20.1873 with a similarly dated Merchants cachet at lower left. Backstamped with a Madrid receiving cds for AU.26.1873. Although this plate was put to press in June the first official day of issue was SP.1.1873 a few examples have been found used prior to this date, pre-release covers such as this are of the highest rarity. - P10100066X
