1858 Registered mail. Very attractive cover from Newcastle on Tyne to Ehrenbreitstein, Rhenish Prussia prepaid at the 1s5d rate via Belgium (8d plus 6d registration + 3d Prussian registration) by a 1d rose-red (SG40) 4d rose (SG66a) and a 1s green (SG72) all neatly tied by Newcastle '545' numerals with a blue Newcastle thimble cds at left for DE.18.1858. Front also shows London 'Crown/REGISTERED' handstamp, London open oval REGISTERED/GPO datestamp (additionally tying stamps) for the 20th, oval 'P' handstamp, boxed 'RECOMANDIRT' handstamp and Aachen transit cds for the 21st all in red.
