GB 1840-41 SG2,8 Pl.3 Penny Black - 'Missent to Liverpool'

1840-41 'Missent' mail. Very fine pair of covers, the first from Manchester to Dorchester prepaid by a 1d black Pl.3, neatly tied by a red MC with a red boxed 'MISSENT/TO LIVERPOOL' handstamp at left, Manchester and London cds's on reverse for JU.18+19.1840. The second from the Isle of Man to Tunbridge Wells, prepaid by a 1d Red-brown Pl.13, this time tied by a black MC with a black boxed 'MISSENT/TO LIVERPOOL' handstamp. Isle of Man, London and Tunbridge wells cds's on reverse for JY.31, AU.3 and AU.4.1841 respectively. A very attractive and scarce pair of matching covers.
