Very fine pair of entires sent to Cheadle and London via Newcastle under Lyme both rated in manuscript indicating the 1d Fifth clause charge and the General Post charge from Newcastle, Staffs to the respective destinations. Both entires bearing the fifth and final 5th Clause type "Newcastle /5'' Cl. Post" handstamps at top right with the 1838 entire bearing a crisp red example and the 1839 entire bearing a black strike.
