Falkland Islands SG 4, 12, 16/33 1895 registered cover to London with values to 1s

1895 (JU 25) registered 'Kennedy' cover to London, bearing the six values issued up to the date of posting (the 2d and 9d values were to follow in Dec 1895), comprising 1878-79 no wmk 1s bistre-brown, 1889-91 4d olive grey-black, and 1891-1902 ½d green (1892), 1d claret (1894), 2½d Prussian blue (1894) and 6d orange-yellow (1891), tied by three fine strikes of type F1 'FALKLAND / ISLANDS' cds, with '(Crown) / REGISTERED' h/s below and hooded London entry cds (30 AU). Backstamped with 'REGISTERED / W.C.D.O.' delivery cds (AU 30). Philatelic, but highly attractive, with neat violet handstamped address to offset the colourful range of stamps, and very scarce with the 2½d Prussian blue. [N.B. The date of the cover confirms the identification of the printings, with the 1d and 6d probably reversed wmk as usually found.] - P267000741
