1879 GB Used Abroad. Very fine cover from Port Au Prince, Haiti to St. Thomas D.W.I. prepaid at the 4d 'Interport' rate by a 4d Sage green Pl.16 tied by the "C59" numeral of the BPO at Jacmel with a Jacmel/Paid cds alongside for MR.25.1879. Carried by RMSP Steamer 'Nile' arriving in St. Thomas on the 29th as confirmed by a cds of the Danish Post Office on reverse (The British Post Office was closed on 22nd September 1877, when St. Thomas entered the GPU). An attractive inter-island franking. - P212020643
