1840 1d "House of Lords" Envelope. Very fine used example of this scarce parliamentary envelope, addressed to Bedford Square, London and cancelled by a London "PAID" Crowned circle datestamp for MR.9.1840. Rare, Parliamentary envelopes were only valid for postage from the Inauguration of the penny post (Jan 10th 1840) until the Issue of the penny black and Mulready envelope (May 6th 1840). 2004 RPS Cert.
